USER INTERFACE FACELIFT

As much as everybody wants to avoid this situation, it is common for software projects to reach a point where the team is aware that there are problems with the user interface that persist despite the team's best efforts to solve them. Yet the product must be shipped soon.

I can help by looking at the user interface and suggesting ways to improve it, even at the last minute. It's no substitute for structuring the application correctly to begin with, but clients have found this service valuable. My observations can save you many cycles of user testing and revision. Sometimes, a facelift can help a great deal. Improving just the layout and appearance or re-recording voice prompts for a speech application does not usually take a lot of development effort, but can improve the user's experience dramatically.

Since my background is as a programmer, I know what kind of changes are difficult and which are easy. It's tempting to do just the easy changes, even if they are low priority. I can help you to gauge whether more substantial efforts will be worth it under a tight deadline, so you can concentrate on doing things that will benefit your customers the most.
